Went shopping at a local mall here in town, that has a nice store full of medieval and samurai blades, along with utility knives, hunting knives ,and kitchen cutlery. I came across an authentic replica of a Clink Prison ball and chain. I had to get it for my restraint collection. Weights about 20 or so pounds, and all I gotta do now is buy a replica of a medieval padlock. I have a Masterlock padlock for it now. It was just laying around so I decided to use it as a suitable substitute. Anyway, just thought I'd share this cool find with everyone.

#2Jon, sounds like a cool find! If you are looking for a replica lock, there are a ton of them all over the net....most of them are made in India. They are priced to sell, although, the quality leaves a bit to be desired. Also, Harbor Freight sells a copy of the Squire "old English" padlock in sets of two for about $10.00. If you are willing to do a little bit of work, you can make them look a lot older than they are. I have done that very thing and fooled every lay-person that has seen the doctored up lock; in regards to it's age. Good luck with your new find! Mike

Yeah, I know there's a ton of replicas, but as long as it functions and lasts a while, its all good. I would love to own historical pieces that were actually used in the old days, but they're very expensive. Replicas are just as good as the real thing, as far as restraints anyway. I'm a serious collector but not so serious that I'm actually after the historical pieces.

Jon, I know what you mean. I would love to own a few more real vintage pieces, but I would be just as happy with some of Ian McColl's reproductions. Besides, only a true collector or an expert can tell the difference anyway. Mike
