Rick Silmser passed away

Rick Silmser who had been posting here in the last year passed away on last Friday night (22nd July)due to a heart attack. Rick was 48 years old. Although we taled many tikes on the phone about handcuffs and magic, I don't know much else about is life but he was always great to talk with and we had many laughs as Rick was always good for a joke and quick witted.

Rick had just emailed me a few months back to kindly express that he was a Fan of my work, having seen me work in Montreal, Canada many moons ago.

Come on, this is not the time or place for mud-slingging of any kind. But since you brought it up, if you only heard Rick's side of the story, then you only heard one side of a two sided ordeal. And I am not sure, but I don't think that Rick's heart attack was brought on by excessive worry due to the fact that Santini owed him a pair of Darby leg irons. Come on, let's be real here. Let's not start bashing one of our own living legends in this field because of Rick's tragedy. To do that, would be childish.

I wish to send my thoughts and prayers out to all who knew Rick and were on a close basis with him.

While it is no secret that Rick and I did not get along, I only find great sadness in the loss of any human life.

We all have something to offer on this planet and certainly Rick did his very best to befriend and encourage many.

This is a good thing above all else.

It is a very empty time when any art form loses one of it's own. Particularly an art form like escapes with very limited numbers.

I want to finish by pointing out the obvious; namely, that our time here on earth is short and very unpredictable. We should all strive to be positive in life and towards each other if at all humanly possible.

Life is far to precious to waste away in struggle and turmoil.

My deep sypathy to Em and all those with whom Rick was close.

I personally didn't know Rick, or have any contact with him.
But, like Mr. Santini and others have pointed out, any loss within this small field of ours is a loss to all of us. My condolances to all who knew Rick. I've read many of his posts, and his passion definitely came through. Life is very precious, and I've recently learned this all too well myself
having undergone treatment for cancer the last few months.
My thoughts are with Em and all those who knew Rick.
