Croft Handcuffs

I just acquired the pair of handcuffs shown below. They are marked "CROFT". The only other markings are a matched set of "3"'s on the cuffs and their key.

Alex Nichols shows a picture of a pair of these in his book taken in a museum, alhough he says the marking on them is unclear.

Does anyone else have a pair of these? Does anyone know who made them?

Dear Joe,

They were made by Lord Henshingly Croft for his daughter, Lara. Angelina Jolie has a pair.

I purchased these cuffs at a Sydney militaria fair.
The only markings on these handcuffs are the word "croft" on both cuffs.
They are quite small, they measure 59mm x 48mm.
This is an old post, has anyone found out anything more about these yet ?
Sorry the photos are not that clear, but it was the best my camera and myself were capable of.

Unfortunately I have not learned anything more about the cuffs. You now have the third pair that I know of.

I think it is likely that "Croft" was not a manufacturer, but just a supply house. This is just a guess.

Did you find your pair in the U.K. or in the U.S.A. ?
The museum that has a set, do you know where it is located ?
I'm thinking that they are of British manufacture.

My Croft handcuffs were bought off eBay from a dealer in the UK. I would agree that they are British. Likely from the late 19th century.
