Handcuff Buddies in San Diego

Hi.
I had the pleasure of having Petra and Guenter as house guests for a couple of days. As they are on their Honeymoon, I am glad that they were able to take the time off from that and spend some time with me and my family. It was a treat to show them around. We, Petra and Guenter, are enjoying the great hospitality of our hosts (the Lyons family) very much. We have a great time here in the States and we are very sorry that we have to leave in about one week and cannot join the convention. But we wish you all a very nice time at the show.

Thank you. I am glad you are impressed with the picture of my back yard, but as Petra took it, she gets all the credit. Oh...you mean the back yard itself! You too are always welcome over here and I am very much looking forward to that day!
Guenter and Petra are having a good time. They have been to Vegas, Grand Canyon, Zion and are heading up to L.A. and San Fran. this week. They went to the San Diego Zoo and Tiajuana yesterday. I believe that they will visit the Magic Castle and see the same show that we will be seeing in a couple of weeks. They may stay over in Monterray and San Luis Obisbo and check out the Hearst Castle along the way.

oh, nice backyard indeed, and I stayed at the "Comfort Inn" when I was in San Diego :/ Please tell Petra&Guenther best wishes for the rest of their trip from me, here in their hometown Munich it's COLD, so I hope they enjoy the sun! I did a similar trip LA/San Diego/LV/GC/Zions/Bryce/SF/LA, so my personal tips:
- if they like the ocean, San Diego is the best. LA/SF beaches IMHO can't compare But I'm sure you already told them?
- for driving from LA so SF: I used the No. 1 - the Interstate may be faster (never tried) but No. 1 really is a beautiful drive.
- for San Francisco, I remember I liked the view on the city from twin peaks. I'm not sure if Alcatraz is a "must have" for handcuff collectors, but I found it worth the trip...

Hi,
Guenter and Petra should have toured L.A. by now and are probably in central Ca.
He has been to Alcatraz before but they will probably stop by again so Petra can check it out.
There used to be a very nice handcuff collection there many years ago, but I only saw some Tower L.I.s and such on my visit last year. It is still a must see and I hope they enjoy this as well as everything else on their trip.
I just got back from a weekend trip in Oak Creek Canyon and Sedona Arizona. To me, that is the most beautiful place in the U.S.
I guess the grass is always greener on the other side, or as Guenter says in Germany, "the cherries on the trees are always better in the neighbors yard". 0--0

Hello everybody,

after 14 hours of exhausting flight we returned home to cold and rainy Bavaria safely. Sure that we went from Mark (San Diego) to San Francisco by driving the famous No. 1 scenic route (everybody who uses the highway 101 would really miss something).

We did not manage to visit the Magic Castle, because the guy on the telephone told me that a member has to do the reservation for guest visitors and that became to complicated. In addition we also did not make it to Alcatraz, because all trips very already booked (until Saturday - but we left on Friday).

But nevertheless we had a very nice last week in USA and enjoyed our whole trip a lot. Many thanks once again to the whole Lyons family for the incredible hospitality - next time we surely won't miss to relax in their gorgeous pool and Jacuzzi .

Last but not least, we wish you all a very nice, happy and interesting convention.
