I would like to indentify some very old police hand cuffs. I have had them myself over 40 years. I am in Australia. There are no markings on these hand cuffs, but, there is a No. on the key. They still open and close as they should. I would appreciate any knowledge some-one may like to give me.

These are certainly what we call darby pattern handcuffs and from the picture I would say they are Brittish made. What markings are on the handcuffs like "Hard", "Wrought", a number, a name like Hiatt, or thompson... would better help us.

These look like Hiatt 104 Darby non-adjustables to me. I am suprised to hear that there are no markings on the cuffs.....strange indeed. Take a good look at the key....this definitely looks like Hiatt. If this is the original key, then they are probably genuine Hiatt Darbies. Just my thoughts. I would be interested to hear some other theories. Mike

Thankyou for your quick response. I have added some more photos to the community photo site. The key is the original. The imprint is very hard to read but it looks as though it has the word No (the o sits high, not low near the letter N) and it looks like 14U or 14 ?? just under it.
I have found some markings on cuff that the key is in. The word HARD all in caps. Then on the opposite side of the same cuff is the number 2. I have opened them up and will put these photos on shortly also. Thankyou. Helen
