help handcuffs to value

Hi i have a collection of Handcuffs that i need to id and value below are 2 direct links to the image shack where i have post 2 pics

the first is a set of handcuffs marked hiatt best warrented wrought 11 and on the other side it says hard



the leg irons pic 2 say 5 rield & son (or field & son)5_233 no born london

It is always difficult to put values on items but I will attempt to help. The standard set of Hiatt Darby pattern handcuffs are unfortunately one of the most often offered handcuffs. This design marked Hiatt have been around since about 1820 right up until about 1976 when Hiatt started producing them in a zinc alloy. If you look on ebay the average price for a similar set to yours is about £45- with working key - probably £30-without a key.
The long chain leg-irons are more interesting. The markings of Field & Sons Holborn London date them from 1877 - 1883. It is now generally agreed that Field acted as a London agent for Hiatt & Co. A good set with original key would be worth about £400- but again without a key and no guarantee they are openable about £200-
