Civil War Alcatraz Prison Handcuffs

I have a pair of handcuffs from Alcatraz Prison Civil War days. Alcatraz is plainly engraves on them. What is there worth?

Just because they are stamped "Alcatraz" doesn't mean that they came from Alcatraz prison. There are several padlocks, in different sizes, that are stamped "Alcatraz Prison" floating around out there that people are trying to pass off as the real thing. In fact, I had a guy try to pass off one of these locks on me, along with some Hiatt-Tompson modern-day Darby leg irons, claiming they were both from Alcatraz and had been in use while the prison was still opened. That was over ten years ago, and it was the first of many run-ins I have had with the "shysters" of the world. Needless to say, I did not buy the lock and leg irons. You need to get a picture of the cuffs for us to see and we can tell you, first of all, if they are authentic or Eastern Indian junk. If they are real, then someone can probably tell you what they are worth.

Hope you did not pay very much for your handcuffs. They are worth about $10-
Unfortunately thousands of copies have appeared on the market over the past few years mainly made in India and Pakistan.
They are usually aged and have various stampings on them such as Alcatraz, TH Porter Slave Dealer etc.
I was offered direct from India 500 sets for $3000- including postage!!
Generally speaking very few Jails or Gaols stamp their name on items why would they bother??
The items are often advertised as turn of the century -but what they actually mean is 2001 not 1901.
